Videostroboscopy and Voice Therapy Services
To better meet the needs of our patients with voice and throat disorders, we now offer Videostroboscopy and Voice Therapy Services in our Orange City office. We spent time evaluating and purchasing state of the art videostroboscopy equipment that allows for the most accurate diagnostic testing. Our licensed speech pathologist has years of experience in working with patients to help them achieve their best possible voice.
Videostroboscopy involves viewing the physical structures of the larynx (voice-box) with a strobe light and a high-definition camera. We are then able to view movement and vibration of the larynx in “slow-motion” for diagnostic purposes.
Voice Therapy involves teaching patients how to control various vocal parameters (volume, pitch, resonance and airflow). The manipulation of these parameters results in a more efficient and effective way to achieve voice production.
Videostroboscopy and Voice Therapy are often recommended for the following reasons:
-
❖ Hoarseness
-
❖ Decreased in Pitch Range or Vocal Endurance
-
❖ Throat Pain or Tightness
-
❖ Difficulty with vocal projection
-
❖ Cough or Frequent Throat Clearing
-
❖ Swallowing Difficulties (Dysphagia)
-
❖ Sensation of a Lump in the Throat (Globus)
-
❖ Documentation of Laryngeal Function Prior to Surgery or Therapy
-
❖ Assessment of Acid Reflux Changes to the Larynx
-
❖ Laryngeal Cancer
-
❖ Vocal Cord Nodules
